The Cheepie to Barcaldine Gas Pipeline (CBGP) is a transmission pipeline owned by Ergon Energy and operated by Verbrec Infrastructure Services.
The CBGP is 404km in length and has a daily capacity of 6 TJ.
The CBGP transports gas to Ergon Energy’s Barcaldine gas fired power station from the South West Queensland Pipeline (SWQP) at Cheepie.
The CBGP is currently a non-scheme pipeline, and is subject to the access regime for non-scheme pipelines under Part 10 of the NGR. It was previously a non-scheme pipeline under the former Part 23 of the NGR.
The CBGP was constructed in two stages. The first stage was completed in 1995 and connected the Gilmore gas field in the Adavale basin in south-central Queensland to the Barcaldine power station. In 2003, following the depletion of the Gilmore gas field, the pipeline was extended further south to connect with the SWQP at Cheepie, thereby securing gas supply for the Barcaldine power station.
